Install & setup

How to install DroidDeck on Android

Requires Android 9 or newer. No root needed. Complete the child-process setting before your first Steam launch.

Step by step

  1. Check Android, GPU, and storage

Use Android 9 or newer and a supported Adreno GPU. Allow about 3 GB for the Linux runtime, with additional space for games and optional components.

  2. Download the official APK

Open the Droid-Deck/DroidDeck GitHub Releases page and install the APK from its release assets. Follow Android's installation prompt for the file you selected.

  3. Install the Linux runtime

Open DroidDeck and complete the in-app Linux runtime installation.

  4. Turn off Restrict child processes

Open Android Developer options and turn OFF Restrict child processes before launching Steam. If it is unavailable, use Fix it for me in DroidDeck and complete wireless ADB pairing.

  5. Launch Steam and sign in

Return to DroidDeck, press Play, and let the Steam client download on first launch. Sign in to your Steam account in the Steam client.

Before you begin

Check your exact GPU in the supported-device guide. Supported GPUs: Adreno 730 or newer, or Adreno 8xx series. Adreno 6xx is experimental; Mali, Xclipse, PowerVR, and Adreno 710 are unsupported.

Allow about 3 GB for the Linux runtime, plus space for Steam and the games you plan to install. Desktop & apps / emulators need about 1.1 GB more.

The step that prevents silent exits

Before Steam launches, turn OFF Restrict child processes in Android Developer options. If that toggle is missing, as on many Android 12/13 devices, use the app's Fix it for me flow and follow its wireless ADB pairing instructions.

After Steam opens

Sign in inside the Steam client. The Steam client downloads itself on first launch, so the first start also depends on a working connection to Steam's servers.

Install Desktop & apps if you want the desktop and emulators. You can add the component after the main Steam setup.
